Somewhere between the end of autumn and the start of winter, the absent one returns home to a small town in the mountains. Now in his 50s, always away and late, having missed his brother’s funeral, he lingers at the threshold of the old home - what else can he attain other than delaying one more night of his arrival.

Saroj Kherotia runs Varsha Productions from Mumbai who are backing filmmakers with a strong authorial voice, and an uncompromising vision. In Retreat is their first film at the Cannes Film Festival.
Barycenter Films
Hailing from Bangalore, and studied from the
Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Thanikachalam is a screenwriter & an
emerging producer. He has written amongst others Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay
Velvet (Locarno 2015). Thanikachalam runs a film society in Bangalore, and
spearheads the Barycenter Film Collectivewhose upcoming completed features
are awaiting their festival launch.
